From the Oldtimer Australia website, October 2011:

"AC cars based in the UK built all Shelby Cobra chassis and body units for the US based “Shelby American Inc” Cobra range in 260, 289 and 427 V8 form.  In 1966 in response to demand for a more upmarket GT car AC Cars took the AC/Shelby 427 Cobra chassis, lengthened it 6 inches to accomodate an ultra elegant Italian designed Frua bodyand powered it with a Ford supplied 7 litre 428 Galaxie engine with automatic or manual transmission . This car, an automatic is well appointed with black leather trim, power steering and De Dion rear suspension and inboard disc brakes. It is one of 51 AC Fastbacks built in a total of 80 cars before production ceased in 1971.

I purchased this car in Vancouver, Canada a few years ago, it is an original factory RHD example and since then the car has had a mechanical and cosmetic restoration costing near $200,000. It is fitted with Trigo Replica Halibrands in 7″ & 9″ with new Michelin XWX tyres.  It is finshed in its original Blue Metallic with new black leather trim and new carpet. It is the Only example in Australia and the cheapest entry into the world of AC Cobra and Shelby Cobra designed vehicles."

Reported sold for $180,000 AUS to a buyer in the Middle East (possibly Kuwait).

1/10/07 Update :

"Slowly but surely getting there, still one more door to go. I have raised the center hump in the bonnet by ½  inch to let out some of the heat and we will put a couple of spoilers under the engine between the radiator and engine block to push a bit more air through. It looks good in silver though the original colour is Guardsman Blue."

15/10/07 Update :

My car is now finished at the Coachbuilding stage however I am now looking for a good colour. Looking at the lines on the car I am not convinced that the original Guardsman Blue does the car any favours.

I will get it right eventually.
